Wayne has a deep love for the earth and all of it’s beautiful forms, and so the arts of pottery and sculpture come naturally to him. He strives to create works of art that are both beautiful and exceedingly functional. You might notice that when you hold a piece of his pottery that it feels like the right “fit” - a good weight; the right curve for your hand; the mouth of the piece feels right. Wayne strives to ensure that his pieces are “Feel Good Pottery”. Also, Wayne designs his pieces to function well. For example, his casserole dishes have a heavier weight to hold in the heat, a glossy glaze for easy clean up, and a “double foot” to transfer heat efficiently and to make the piece more durable. Probably the biggest challenge and greatest joy in Wayne's life right now is his young son, John. Wayne takes a lot of time out of his busy schedule to spend time with John, and they have a great time playing in the clay together! |
